    Description

GEA Buck® MC Valve – Modular Split Butterfly Valve for Flexible Powder Handling

The GEA Buck® MC Valve is a modular split butterfly valve, designed to protect both people and products when charging and discharging highly potent APIs. This valve combines flexibility with superior performance, ensuring safe and precise transfer of powders and granules making it ideal for a range of industrial applications. The docking system comprises two half valves that are able to independently seal two different containers. A corresponding actuator ring is used to lock and activate the two half valves, which then allows contained powder transfer.

    Key Features:

    • Passive to passive design: The passive valves freely orientate using a centralised actuator ring so operator docking error is reduced.
    • Modular containment: with a 1–10 μg/m3 (STTWA) containment level offered as standard, the system is also available with an advanced air cleaning actuator to further improve containment levels down to <1 μg/m3 (STTWA).
    • User-Friendly Maintenance: WIP, CIP and COP comes as standard.  Working parts remain on the station allowing for quick disassembly and cleaning, reducing downtime and operational costs.
    • Wide Compatibility: Suitable for diverse industries including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food processing.

    Technical Specifications:

    • Material: Metal parts are available in stainless steel 1.4404/316L or Hastelloy 2.4602/C22 (on request).
    • Sizes Available: DN50 to DN300
    • Containment Level: OEB 4 (Occupational Exposure Band 4)
    • Temperature Range: -10°C to +120°C
    • Pressure Rating: Up to 8 bar
    • Surface roughness: for metal parts (non-coated) is Ra < 0.5 µm.

    Applications:

The MC split butterfly valve is perfect for applications requiring flexible and efficient powder handling. Key industries include:

    • Pharmaceuticals: The MC valve is perfect for the handling of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients because it limits exposure to operators.
    • Chemical Processing: Transfer of non-toxic and less hazardous chemicals.
    • Food and Beverage: Hygienic handling of food ingredients and additives.

    Benefits:

    • Enhanced Flexibility: Modular design allows for easy adaptation to various processes.
    • Operational Efficiency: High reliability and easy maintenance improve overall productivity and therefore increases efficiencies.
    • Cost-Effective: Reduces operational costs through minimal downtime and efficient performance.
